Peacekeeper (Backwards War Story)
Molded sheets of metal
transformed into man’s weapons,
Pierced by rounds and decorated with bodies
from their English home, they fly.
Nazi flyers o’er France
vacuuming explosives and fire
American planes, reconstructed and now,
rejoin brothers in the sky.
Over the German land,
the planes are vacuuming on.
On the land below, with cannons they cleansed
and all fires were wiped out.
Still corpses lie barren,
and plane parts scatter the ground.
But Germans flew on with healing to supply
No turmoil was found throughout.
The bombers flew on home,
Disassembled one by one.
Their parts taken back to America’s fac-
-tories in parts, good as new.
Women worked hard on this.
Materials scattered far,
Hidden in the ground for no one to unearth,
Never to be broken through.
